   There is also a very detailed set of 36 maps (1:25.000, Carta Militar de Portugal) covering all the islands. These maps are mostly from 2001-2003, and are quite useful showing all small creeks, ponds and roads. These maps can be ordered from Instituto Geográfico Português (www.igeoe.pt).
